Extra: Re-Delegate your Domain Name

If you have an existing domain name and want to transfer it from one web host's SERVERS to another, you need to re-delegate it
It's easy! There are two things you need to do: complete and submit Internet Names Australia's online Delegation/Redelegation Form and print, fill in and FAX their "authorisation form"
How To Re-Delegate An Australian domain name, eg,
Internet Names Australia

Fax: 9349 4267
1 Connect to the internet and key in
2 Click "Online Delegation/Redelegation Form"
3 Click on the "authorisation form" link, which takes you to an "Authorisation to Change the Delegation of a Domain Name" form, which you print, fill in and FAX to Internet Names WorldWide on 03 9620 2388
Hit "Back" on your browser menu to return to the "Online Delegation/Redelegation Form
4 Email Address
5 Domain Name
Self-explanatory (don't include "www.")
6 Admin NIC handle
eg, BA1-AU
7 4. Tech NIC handle
eg, BA1-AU (same as Admin NIC handle)
If you have forgotten your Admin NIC handle, go to, click "Domain Name Lookup" and type in your domain name (no www.), eg,
Name Server Information
8 Primary Server
9 Secondary Server eg, NS2.NAMESERVERS.NET and
10 Additional Secondary Server
(only fill in if your web host has more than two Domain Name SERVERS)
Mail Exchange Information
DON'T complete this section
11 Click SUBMIT
This will take you to a form which will say something like "The re-delegation request has been passed via email to COM.AU at Melbourne IT. You will not receive any further correspondence with respect to this request. If the Name SERVERS, as listed on your form, are functioning correctly, the re-delegation will be done
When this is done, you will be able to dial up your domain name on the Internet
How to Re-Delegate a US domain name (
You don't have to if Hiway is your web host; they have a direct account with InterNIC (the US domain name authority) and look after all US domain name registrations. Re-delegation is done automatically when your domain name is registered. All you have to do is pay the registration invoice InterNIC emails you. By the way, the US use the word "propagation" NOT delegation
